If it’s a question of my heart, you got it.

My husband has a phrase: he calls it legitimate bullshit.

It sounds official—logic, rules, structure there is so truth to it—but at its core, it’s still nonsense.

“This land is your land, this land is my land.” Freedom bells ringing for everyone—legitimate bullshit.

And sometimes, I wonder if the way we use the word professional falls into that category.

We say professional means competence, ethics, skill.

But too often, it means don’t be too human.

Don’t show too much emotion.

Don’t disrupt the structure.

Send the email. Wait your turn. Follow the system.

But real connection was never built that way.

Human beings connected long before corporate etiquette manuals existed.

Sometimes I think we’ve replaced humanity with procedure and called it progress.
