Heart Rant Digest #11 We Prepared Our Bodies… But Not Our World.
“If it’s a question of my heart, you got it.”
I’ve been getting to know my biological father.
And I say biological father on purpose…
Because I also had somebody fill that space.
We don’t talk enough about the people who fill spaces…
when conditions stop people from standing in the roles they were created to stand in.
That’s not just about fathers.
That’s about how sick we’ve become.
Because somewhere…
this world decided it didn’t matter if fathers stayed connected to their children.
Then blamed the fathers…
while ignoring everything that disconnected them.
Jim Crow.
Mass incarceration.
Poverty.
Policies.
Generations.
We prepared our bodies for our Black men…
We got wet vaginas…
We have babies…
But where did we prepare a place…
for their healing?
For their becoming?
For their wholeness?
That’s the question my heart keeps asking.
“I’ll keep letting my heart lead, and maybe that’s enough to build my legacy.”
